Medal Design:
The breast star is a six-pointed silver star, with blue enamel decoration and small arabesque motifs. At the center is a medallion featuring a rising sun motif over stylized waves in vivid enamel. Reverse with full maker’s mark “F.E. GARDINO SUCC. CRAVANZOLA – ROMA”.

Condition:
Good condition overall. Original enamels largely intact with some minor surface wear, particularly visible on the central medallion. Original pin, catch, and hinge intact and functional.

Historical and Collectible Significance:
The Order of Mehdauia was instituted by Sultan Mohammed V in 1956 to commemorate Moroccan independence. The Grand Cross Breast Star is one of the highest classes, rarely awarded and seldom appearing on the market. This piece, produced by the prestigious Italian maker Cravanzola of Rome, reflects both Moroccan state symbolism and fine European craftsmanship. A rare and valuable addition to any collection of Moroccan, North African, or post-colonial orders.
